About our Appointments System

General Information

An appointment is required to see the doctor or nurse.

We offer appointments which can be pre-booked and also offer book-on-day appointments. These book-on-day appointments can be booked by telephoning the surgery early in the morning.

Appointments can be booked up to 4 weeks in advance. We will always endeavour to let you book an appointment with the doctor of your choice at a time that suits you best. This is obviously not always possible especially at times of high demand (usually around the holiday periods) and when doctors are on holiday.

Although you will be officially registered with one doctor you may see the doctor of your choice. However, it is recommended that once treatment has commenced, you continue to see the same doctor for that problem.

We are constantly reviewing the appointment system to offer a range of availability.

Appointments with the Practice Nurses

Our Practice Nurses are available by appointment for injections, diagnostic tests, smears, new patient checks, routine blood tests and blood pressure checks. We also run clinics specifically for diabetes, asthma, well baby, ante-natal, Coronary Heart Disease, hypertension and advice on stopping smoking.

Telephone Advice

Speaking to a GP or Nurse by Telephone

The practice operates a policy of patients being able to speak to a doctor or nurse by telephone. However, this is usually implemented by a "call back" system by the doctor or nurse as soon as practically possible after a request by the patient.
Unless the call is of an extremely urgent nature, doctors will not be interrupted during the course of their surgeries or clinics.

Advice is also available from the NHS 111 service by calling 111 from your landline or mobile phone.

Chaperones

If you anticipate that you may require an examination by the Doctor and feel that you would like a chaperone to be present, please make reception aware at the time of booking your appointment so that this can be arranged. Alternatively bring along a member of your family or friend to your appointment.

Cancelling an Appointment

If you are unable to attend for your appointment please tell us in good time so that we are able to offer another patient the use of that appointment.
